Assalamu alaikum, so why do I need another blog? Well, I don’t actually, however, I think I want my TypePad blog to be where I post articles, etc., and perhaps "serious" writing, and keep my MySpace blog for my little silly, childish rants, because let’s face it, the posts of the last few days definitely demonstrates that I have them. I’m thinking of writing on the Mawlid Carnival, but I’ve got to think of something "worthy" to write.

Assalamu alaikum, this is in regard to the arrest/detention of Fatou Jaw Manneh (who by the way, had gone home to visit her family on the death of her father, I beleive). What a time to arrest someone? I pray that she will be freed soon!

Assalamu alaikum, I found this article to be very interesting. My first reaction is to say that there is a lot "wrong" with the way polygamy is practiced, but hey, what do I know? Although this does leave me with a lot of questions. Is it OK for a cowife to live in the same house with the other wife? Is it OK to wait and tell the first wife "oh by the way, I’ve gotten married and the second wife is coming today"? I don’t ahve a problem with plygamy in and of itself, it’s the way men practice it. "First wife make you mad, get a second, preferrably younger, wife". First wife not giving you enoguh kids, get a second, third, or fourth one, again preferrably younger. And God forbid that you follow the Sunnah and actually take care of widows, women with children, etc. (not that many men *don’t* do this, however, this is only directed at *some* men). But anyway, as I said, what do I know. I mean, it’s not so much "the men" but it’s "the women" too. I mean, even if I ended up in a polygamous situation, even if the husband was good and kind to both or us, what if the other woman/women involved want to cause drama? That’s antoher thing I don’t think I’d want to deal with, and I’ve not seen this mentioned a lot. So I just don’t want to blame the men here. But anyway, the article is below.
